PDD

By: Katie Giannetto

PDD this semester was a success! PDD is held once a year by the fundraising committee, raising money for breast cancer research as well as awareness. Although it is usually held during the fall semester, this year it was held in the spring. PDD is one of the few larger events held every year. It is an opportunity to have fun while helping to raise money for breast cancer research! All money raised goes to American Breast Cancer Society: Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

The American Breast Cancer Society aims to continue their research for cures for breast cancer. They not only raise money to continue their research, but also create a supportive community for people who do have or have had breast cancer. They support patients as well as their families through their process. In 110 years (since 1913), they have had many breakthroughs in their research and have truly made an impact. Throughout the years, they have found many helpful cures such as chemotherapy and more research on prevention such as mammograms. They have also led as a support system for patients and families. They launched their 24/7 cancer helpline in 1997 helping patients and their loved ones. Donations help them add to this list of accomplishments and help to provide more support for cancer patients.

PDD

This event aims at donating as much money as possible to the American Breast Cancer Society for the research of breast cancer. It also aims to help spread breast cancer awareness. They didn’t only raise money, but they also had fun games and gave out prizes! Some sponsors include: Friends Experience, Crosby Hotel, Patrick Ta Beauty, Rooftop Cinema, and Sugar Hill Creamery.

This event is certainly an important one that brings awareness to breast cancer. I continue to look forward to these events and donate to breast cancer awareness and research of breast cancer.
